Mike Childs has been an energy agent at the NEC since the early days before energy efficiency was part of many evening newscasts and has 25+ years of experience conducting energy audits, weatherization inspections and HERS ratings. Mike is up-to-date with his industry-required certifications and enjoys attending regional and national energy related conferences.

 

Mike is a pro at explaining the nuances of home energy conservation in language the average home owner can understand and why it’s usually a good idea to start with insulation rather than window replacement in achieving energy savings and home comfort.

 

You’ll frequently find Mike staffing an energy booth at the Minnesota State Fair or a neighborhood energy fair and in his free time, is an avid fisherman, pheasant pursuer and devotee of live music events . Mike lives in a well-insulated house in South Minneapolis.
