Free Home Energy Audits for Roseville Residents

A blower door test helps assess a home's air flow.

For the fifth straight year, the City of Roseville, in partnership with Xcel Energy and the Neighborhood Energy Connection, will offer free home energy audits to 200 Roseville residents.

This is a great opportunity for homeowners to identify the most cost-effective energy saving projects for their home. During an audit, an energy analyst will review  consumption data, pinpoint air leakage, assess attic and wall space insulation levels and  determine the efficiency of the home heating system and other mechanical equipment. After the audit, homeowners will receive a report with a prioritized list of project recommendations.

Interested residents can find the audit waiver form on the City of Roseville website and then send it by mail or email to the Neighborhood Energy Connection. Audit customers can choose between the Standard Energy Audit, which normally costs $60, or the Standard Audit with Infrared, which normally is $100. The city will reimburse $60 toward either audit.

Instant utility bill savings are available through a discounted $20 Home Energy Squad visit in combination with the free audit. The Home Energy Squad installs CFL lightbulbs, faucet aerators, door weatherstripping and other energy-saving devices. The items installed by the Home Energy Squad typically pay for themselves within one year.

Homeowners are advised to sign up soon—the program is extremely popular and available spots fill up quickly.

Roseville residents are eligible for a free energy audit through Xcel Energy and the NEC.
